Part of a series of commissions by the Del Bybee Big Band for the "Holiday Project 2000" CD. This arrangement lies between jazz ensemble and wind ensemble, exploring the rich palette of colors and shadings available in the jazz orchestra.
The arrangement begins with a chorale setting for woodwind "choir" of 2 flutes, alto flute (opt. C flute), clarinet, and bass clarinet stating the melody through very natural sounding odd meters, giving way to a glorious brass chorale. The vocal enters on a haunting piano ostinato.
